Memorabilia from Bemberg and American Glanzstoff Corporations

Through the years of the Elizabethton, TN based rayon producing facilities, several novelty and promotional items were created for the employees and area residents. As they are identified and made available, the CCH staff will provide photos and descriptions.

1930's Sewing Kit

Pictured is an Old Bemberg Rayon Yarn Advertising Premium Sewing Kit. This kit is not dated but it is believed to be from the 1930s. The patent numbers on it are from 1937. The case was made of metal with an imprinted celluloid cover. The cap, when removed, served as a metal thimble. Inside the container was a hollow wooden spool with a wooden cap attached. On the wooden spool there were both black and white thread. Unfortunately the white thread is missing in this kit. The inside of the wooden spool was hollow which allowed a space to store pins and sewing needles. . It is marked on the celluloid covering and an end as follows
